The film Sinergy Freeride has been filmed predominantly in Chamonix, France
over the last two winter seasons. It focus on what Chamonix does best
- freeriding. Nowhere else in the world can you take a lift up over 2800
vertical metres and be allowed to ride whatever you like, regardless of
the risk. The people Chamonix attracts make up the experience of living
there probably even more than the mountains themselves, which is why Sinergy
Freeride gives an insight into their lives so people can appreciate even
more some of the descents and experiences they have had.
In making this film, we have tried to achieve something different from the standard ski film; Trick after trick, jump after jump, with either fast paced heavy metal or a hip hop soundtrack, you eventually loose the significance of what you are witnessing. In Chamonix for most of the steep decents, you have to climb up them first yourself, with crampons, ice axes, ropes, harnesses etc which in itself is an achievement. We want to show all parts of steep freeriding, the journey getting there, the trust placed in other riders and the natural high of skiing a big line that just can not be immitated by anything else.
